When, many moons ago…., I started this wonderful crochet hobby, one of the first designers I fell in love with was Lalylala. I just adore the clean lines and abstract feel of her designs. I also really like her creativity and whimsical eye for detail, like the embroidery on the belly of the mushroom doll.
These little details make these designs really stand out and something special. Her dolls have become one of the most iconic designs in the world of amigurumi and are loved, made (and copied…) by many! There is even a thriving “Lalylala mod pattern” community out there. “Mod” as in “modification”. Enthusiastic Lalylala fans have made their own creations, based on the Lalylala basic patterns, and have shared those (and their modification patterns) with other Lalylala fans on the web. It is really amazing to see what those crocheters came up with! So inspiring!
It’s no wonder that I succumbed to the temptation to try one for myself. I made Lupo The Lamb as a gift for someone. Curious how it turned out? Ha! Maybe I’ll write a blogpost about it!
I have selected some of her designs to showcase here. I can’t say enough about how much I like them! So scroll through this post and feast your eyes on the crochet goodness that is Lalylala!
Next to her iconic amigurumi Lalylala dolls, she has also designed a couple of series of small dolls suitable for different seasons and holidays:
